Thomas H. Lewis, LCSW, Clinical Director Tom has been with Fairwinds since 1992 and serves as clinical director. He has extensive experience in the field of psychiatric treatment, chemical dependency and eating disorders. Tom has been licensed as a social worker since 1983 and has provided the clinical team with his expertise through training, in-services and supervision. Tom has significant experience in family systems treatment and specializes in male eating disorders.

Jeanne M. Szanto, MSW Jeanne served as Fairwinds’ first clinical director from 1989 to 1994. In 1998, upon returning to Fairwinds as a program therapist, Jeanne was recruited by Dr. Pauline Powers to work directly with clients and their families in the Eating Disorders Program. She has training in both traditional and esoteric therapies, enjoying a creative approach to her work and life, and has worked with adults and adolescents with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders since 1974.

Gregory Kauffman, M.A., LMHC, NCC Gregg is the lead therapist in the Fairwinds Substance Abuse/Dual Diagnosis Program. With more than 20 years of experience in the mental health and substance abuse field, Gregg’s specialty is working with clients who have extensive emotional problems related to substance abuse, sexual abuse and family dysfunction issues. Gregg has worked in private practice, which built the foundation for his individual and family psychotherapy skills, and also has extensive experience in the area of supervisory and clinical leadership.

Susan R. Wachter, MA, LMHC, NCC Susan has been a therapist in the Substance Abuse/Dual Diagnosis and Eating Disorders Programs at Fairwinds since 2005. She was previously in a private practice setting in Maitland, Florida, where she worked with adults and adolescents, as well as in group therapy settings. Susan’s specialties include eating disorders, mood disorders, substance abuse issues, dis-associative identity disorders, sexual abuse issues and relationship issues.

Anne Doyle-Jones, LMHC, CAP With her strong dual diagnosis treatment skills, Anne is a primary therapist in the Substance Abuse/Dual Diagnosis Program at Fairwinds. Trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, she has worked in the addictions field in a variety of treatment settings since 1992. Anne has worked with families with addiction and domestic violence-related issues and enjoys helping her clients heal through therapeutic poetry and journaling. She holds a Master of Science degree in mental health counseling from Nova Southeastern University and a bachelor’s degree in communications. Anne is also a Certified Addictions Professional and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the State of Florida.

Kourtney Gordon, R.D., L.D. A registered dietician, Kourtney has been with Fairwinds since 2000. Kourtney is responsible for weekly nutrition groups and outings designed to re-familiarize clients with healthy eating habits and attitudes about food. She is also involved in facilitating and counseling patients to achieve normal eating patterns and weight stabilization through educational and experiential activities. Kourtney is an active member of the Academy for Eating Disorders.

Saudia Wadud, MFA, MA Saudia’s goal in providing art therapy at Fairwinds it to raise clients’ awareness of not only the art product, but more importantly the process of creativity and the development that occurs as a result of creating the art. A graduate of the Creative Arts Therapy Program at Hofstra University in New York, Saudia also holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Slade School of Art in London, England, and a graduate degree in art history from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. She actively pursues her own art practice and exhibits her work nationally.

Simon J. Hebert, NCC, LMHC, CAP Simon has worked at Fairwinds since 1998 in a variety of therapeutic roles and currently directs the multi-family program. Simon works in a private practice conducting an Intensive Out Patient program and provides for aftercare services. He has over 35 years of experience in human services as a National Certified counselor, Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addictions Professional and has worked in the areas of dual diagnosis, eating disorders, family therapy, codependency and spirituality in recovery. Simon on request provides for his specialty in Christian counseling services.

Ellen Streich, LMHC With more than 30 years of experience, Ellen served as clinical director for Fairwinds Adult Services from 1994 to 1999. She began her work in addictions and dual diagnosis services in 1977 and since that time has provided a variety of services within the treatment spectrum, from early intervention to long-term residential. In 1991, Ellen was named “Counselor of the Year” by the Florida Alcohol and Drug Association.

Christian Therapy (on request) Fairwinds is not a Christian-based program; however, at the request of the client, we can make arrangements for individualized Christian counseling services. The client can also receive pastor or clergy visits while in treatment. Fairwinds respects all religious viewpoints and does not discriminate.
