Students are often stressed because of school, sports, work and pressure from their social circles. Without the correct support systems, mental health issues, such as eating disorders, can take root.
In the U.S. alone, 30 million people suffer from significant eating disorders. Many of these people are students. If you’re a parent or school administrator, you need to know how to recognize eating disorders during their early stages.
Some warning signs of anorexia nervosa include weight loss, extreme dieting and control of food intake. For those suffering from binge eating or bulimia nervosa, you’ll notice frequent episodes of consuming large amounts of food but with no effort to prevent weight gain.
