In part one of our two-part series, we explained the first steps you should take when trying to help a friend or loved one who is suffering from cocaine addiction. We stated that it’s important to first understand what cocaine addiction is because it’ll help you approach them the right way.
In the final part of our series, we’ll talk about the steps to take during and after the recovery process.
1. Contact the professionals
You won’t be able to help an addict alone. Unfortunately, as much as we want to help, we’re just not trained to do so. It’s best we leave our friends or loved ones in the hands of a professional doctor at a treatment center where they can obtain expert advice and medicine.
Before talking to your friend about addressing his or her addiction, call the professionals, such as those at Fairwinds Treatment Center, and ask how best to approach an addict. You should also ask how the treatment and recovery process works. After gathering as much information as you can, approach your friend and talk to him or her about the professional approach.
2. Address withdrawal symptoms
Assuming your friend has decided to check themselves into a clinic, it’s always important to stand by him or her. Go to appointments, and make the addict feel comfortable. It’s also important to distract the sufferer when cocaine cravings crop up.
If you know someone who is struggling from cocaine addiction, it’s important to get them help immediately and call the professionals at Fairwinds Treatment Center. Founded 25 years ago by Dr. M.K.
