The residential treatment program for an eating disorder patient differs with each individuals specific treatment plan. The estimated length of treatment is 2-3 months based on medical advice. This is an approximation of how long it will take to gain the necessary weight, practice weight maintenance, and treat concurrent medical and psychiatric conditions.
At the time of the Fairwinds assessment, an admissions coordinator will inform the patient of the recommended length of stay. While in treatment the patient will see the psychiatrist each day. The patient will also be assigned a specific therapist and will have 3 scheduled sessions each week.
Through many years of treatment, this model of residential treatment has been the most successful.
